Abstract
The article investigates the socio-economic development of territories within the subregion Baikal in Irkutsk region (Baikal Region), the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory (Transbaikalia). The economic potential of intra-regional cooperation considered territory is used at a critically low level, which is determined by the prevailing avtarkizmom subjects of the Russian Federation in line with the "vertical" power without the addition of "horizontal" cooperation areas. Assessment of the socio-economic development of the Irkutsk Region, the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory suggests the existence of common problems of subjects of the Russian Federation in the Baikal subregion, actualizing the need of cooperation. The authors identified key areas of integration and cooperation entities of the Baikal region in the energy sector, agopromyshlennogo complex, forestry, coal pro-industry, construction, tourism and recreation.
