Sustainable energy development: essence and methodological approaches to assessment

The purpose of this article is to analyze the essence of sustainable energy development and methodological approaches to its assessment. The article deals with the concept of sustainable development and its economic, ecologic and social components. The author analyzes the notion of "sustainable energy development" at 3 levels: the level of the state, the level of energy industries, the level of energy companies and proposes her own definitions of this notion for each level. The article runs about the world current methodological approaches to the assessment of sustainable energy development at the level of the region.
