Content, challenges and directions of development of ecological tourism

The relevance of the research is due, on the one hand, a significant decrease in the rate of development of the tourism industry in the Russian Federation and, consequently, a decrease in financial income in the budgets of different levels, on the other hand, the widespread deterioration of the natural environment on the basis of increased pollution and low environmental awareness.
Objective: To identify and justify theoretically the problems and directions of development of ecological tourism in the Russian Federation and its regions.
Tasks. Expand the theoretical essence and diversity of ecological tourism. To formulate principles for the development of ecological tourism. Identify the problem, causing the inertness of development of ecological tourism in Russia. Determine the conditions to solve the problem of development of ecological tourism in Russia. Identify the role of national parks and buffer zones of nature reserves in the development of sustainable tourism. Suggest tasks of economic and social issues that will facilitate the implementation of the development of ecological tourism in the region.
Methodology. The research used a complex methodology based on a systematic, structural and process approaches as the scientific methods of knowledge to the solution of problems of development of ecological tourism. Working with primary sources and statistical base relied on the application of the comparative analysis and synthesis.
Results: The article reveals the essence and content of ecological tourism, the problems are identified, defined the direction and objectives of its development both in Russia and the region.
Conclusion. Eco-tourism is a promising emerging trend in the tourism industry, which contributes to the formation of tourist and recreational economic clusters; preservation of unique natural beauty areas; reduce pressure on the environment as a whole; improving literacy and other natural resources in terms of operating environment, as well as an increase in knowledge and experience with nature at the school; increase the effectiveness of government institutions in the field of prevention and control of environmental offenses; creation of a database on the state of the environment.
